Critical Energy and Environmental Issues Facing the Next Administration - October 23, 2008

As the national debate intensifies about how America can meet its growing energy demand while remaining environmentally responsible, both presidential candidates are communicating plans as to how we can grow and diversify our domestic energy portfolio.

This Webinar shed light on the political landscape and the importance of states' electoral votes. It then identified major energy issues our country's next president will encounter and how these issues impact effective energy policy.

Finally, the event featured two well-known political pollsters representing both Republican and Democratic viewpoints on energy policy. The presenters released new poll results gathered from voters of both parties that identify issues most important to them and their level of support for each.

A question and answer session followed the presentations.

Resolving Conflicts between Federal and State Climate Change Policies and Why New Coal Plants Should Be Built

As the national debate intensifies about how America will meet its growing energy demand while being environmentally responsible, discussions are underway to develop effective energy policies that embrace the fundamental linkage between the three "Es."

States have taken it upon themselves to develop climate change action plans at the state level. Regional partnerships are being formed to do the same at a regional level.

With more than 50 percent of the country's electricity produced by coal, some want to put an end to new coal plant construction and still attempt to meet future energy demand.
